Hi, Band Friends!

You may remember a couple of years ago I participated in the Blogathon, an
event where the blogging community comes together and blogs for 24 hours to
raise money for various charities. My charity was the Blacksburg Community
Band, it was a lot of fun, and due to the kindness of many folks, I even
raised a few bucks for us.

Well, it's Blogathon time again. Sort of.

My friend Stennie and I are doing something a little different this time
around. Since we host a weekly podcast, we have decided to do our own
version of the Blogathon to raise money. A Podcastathon, if you will. It
shall be a herculean task - 48 ten-minute podcasts in a 24-hour period,
beginning at 9am on Saturday, August 11th.

The charity we've chosen to support is the American Cancer Society. This is
a cause very close to the both of us, as it may be to you as well. Many of
us have lost close friends and family members to cancer. Stennie's mentor
died from cancer, and as some of you may know, my father is currently
battling the disease.

So I know at this point you're saying, "What a great idea! How can I help?"
Funny you should ask....

1. Go to www.hucklebug.com.

2. Read all about it.

3. It will direct you to -
https://www.cancer.org/docroot/DON/DON_1_Donate_Online_Now.asp - the
American Cancer Society online donation site. It's very user-friendly, and
will even let you make a donation in memory of someone, or in someone's
honor, and it will send a card for you, too!

4. If you don't feel happy with online stuff, go to
http://www.cancer.org/docroot/DON/DON_1_Donate_by_Mail_or_Phone.asp. It
takes you to a page with the American Cancer Society's address for mail-in
contributions. Write a check, stamp an envelope, and let the good times
roll.

5. Then - and this is VERY important - Go right back to www.hucklebug.com.
Click where it says "comments," and let us know how much you contributed.

You don't have to sign up, sign in, leave your name, or anything else. If
you want to be anonymous you can, but you can advertise your generosity to
us in all capital letters if you like. We need you to do this so we can keep
track of how much we're raising for the American Cancer Society.

OR!

If you want to make a pledge and follow up on it after you know we completed
the podcastathon, just go to www.hucklebug.com, hit the "comments" button,
and say, anonymously or not, "I pledge so much." Then when you know we were
successful, contribute online or by mail.

I've always known my friends to be very generous and cool people, and I hope
you'll all help us in a fun way to raise some money for a good cause.

And of course, please feel welcome to join us at any time on Saturday
through to Sunday to listen to some podcasts. A warning: there is salty
language in the air, but we're nice people, we rarely bite, and sometimes we
even make people chuckle.
