Dear Community Band Members:

     My name is Alison Wencek and I am a member of the Baldwinsville Community
Band in Baldwinsville, NY.  I am in the process of writing an article which I
hope to have published in one or more national magazines promoting the
Community Band concept.  In the article, I would like to focus on 
information and
opinions I can get from other band members.  If you have a little time, I would
really appreciate hearing from you with answers to the following questions:

How did you hear about your band and how long have you been playing?

What types of music do you play in your band?

What types of concert venues does your band play at (i.e. county fairs,
nursing homes, etc.)?

Did you need to audition for your band or for specific chairs?

Does your band charge membership dues, are you funded in some way, or do you
charge for concerts?

What was your level of playing ability when you entered your community band?

Most importantly, would you give me permission to use your name if I would
like to quote you on anything you have said?  Publishers are very precise on
this and without your permission I cannot include it.

Please feel free to include any other comments about your experiences with
the band.  I am hoping that this article will bring awareness to many 
people who
do not know that such organizations exist.  Also feel free to ask these
questions of your band members.  The more feedback I have, the better 
the article
will be.

I appreciate all the help you can give me and look forward to hearing your
