Blacksburg Master Chorale Holiday Concert
December 15, 2007 * Blacksburg Presbyterian Church
7:30 p.m. * $12.00 adults/$8.00 students.
Tickets available through a chorus member or at the door.

The Blacksburg Master Chorale is excited to present a program that 
will delight children and adults alike! J.S. Bach's tremendous 
Magnificat, composed for Christmas 1723, brings a thrilling vitality 
to the most popular of all the Gospel canticles. In addition, tenor 
Scott Williamson and the Blacksburg Children's Chorale join the 
Master Chorale for a dramatic performance of Benjamin Britten's Saint 
Nicolas. This cantata, the composer's first professional work 
intended primarily for amateur musicians, follows the life of the 
patron saint of children who is now commonly identified with Santa 
Claus. A pre-concert lecture is scheduled for 6:45 p.m.

7:30 p.m. * Freewill donation

You are invited to join us for a great evening of musical fellowship, 
so dust off that old score and prepare yourself for the exhilarating 
choruses in Handel's Messiah. Not a singer? Experience the fun as an 
audience member. The Blacksburg Children's Chorale will open the 
event with delightful seasonal music.

Note: A limited number of scores will be available to borrow on a 
first come basis.
