For those interested, I wanted to mention a couple of concerts coming up.

Sunday, April 20, 8 p.m., Squires Recital Salon.
The Virginia Tech Early Music Ensemble. "Music
for Spring, Fit for a King." Several chamber
sonatas by baroque composers, a string orchestra
suite, and several very fun vocal selections (if
we can get them all learned!).

PROGRAM

Georg Philipp Telemann, Trio Sonata for 2 Oboes, Bassoon, Harpsichord

Vocal set: "Hey ho! to the green wood now let us
go"; "In a Garden so Green" (English and Scotish
early renaissance songs).

Jean Baptist Loeillet, Trio Sonata for Alto
Recorder, Violin, Cello, Harpsichord.

Pierre Danican Philidor, Suite for 2 Flutes, Cello, Harpsichord.

	INTERMISSION

Telemann, Trio Sonata for Violin, Viola da Gamba, Bassoon, Harpsichord.

Vocal set:  "O Lusty May" (anon. Scottish);
"April is in my Mistress' face" (Thomas Morley);
"Ce moys de may" (Clément Jannequin).

Georg Muffat, Suite No. 2 for String Orchestra from "Florilegium Primum."

This is a different kind of program for us,
because we've never in the past had the breadth
of talented players to do this kind of program.
And in spite of what it may look like, there's a
lot of good variety in it. We will also be
playing selected music from this program in the
War Memorial Chapel from 6-7 p.m. on Tech's Day
of Remembrance, Wednesday, April 16. There will
be music in the Chapel from noon to 8 p.m. that
day.

And our Kissin' Cousins, the Blacksburg Community
Strings, will be presenting their Spring Concert
on Sunday, May 4, 3 p.m. in Squires Recital
Salon. Concertmaster Cheryl Prince will be
joined by flutists Mary Walters and Vicki
Scarratt for Bach's "Brandenburg Concerto No. 4,"
while Tech cellists Jessica Brown and Paul Smith
will be guest soloists for Vivaldi's "Double
Concerto in G minor." Additional pieces by
Christoph Graupner, Jean Sibelius, and Bedrich
Smetana.
