Hello All,

Just a reminder to all we are going to be at Squires for our final rehearsal
before July 4th. If you need directions please don't hesitate to contact me or
any of the board members.

The parade on July 4th, starts at 2:00 pm at the Old Blacksburg Middle School
on South Main Street. You can meet us there at 1:20 pm, or 1:00 pm at the
Community Center on Patrick Henry Drive (across from the High School). The truck
will meet us at 1:10 pm at the Community Center so we will need to be ready to
board at that time. When we arrive at the Old Middle School at 1:20, we will
quickly decorate the trailer and prepare for the parade. I will have the music
for the parade (Stars and Stripes Forever). The trailer will drop us off back
at the Community Center. Don't forget to bring your lyres and sunscreen.

Don't forget about our Picnic at 4:00 after the parade.
This year we are buying fried chicken for the band and please plan to bring a
side dish.
We will have paper products, tea and water for all. You might want to bring
chairs or a blanket for the picnic.
Our concert is at 6:00 pm. We will be setting up earlier in the afternoon,
but we will need to get situated at the concert location around 5:15 pm. Don't
forget your stands.
The dress for all 4th of July events is white shirts and kakki/tan pants or
shorts.

As I had mentioned, don't forget Bruce McGarvey will be playing a recital on
Thursday, July 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the Blacksburg Baptist Church. A reception
is planned afterward at his home.
The program will be taken from this repertoire:
Cahuzac - "Variations sur un air du Pays d'Oc" for clarinet and piano
Lewin - Mvt 2 from "Views of the Blues" for two clarinets
Tomasi - "Sonatine Attique" for solo clarinet

clarinets and piano
Katschka - "First Prelude for Clarinet for Clarinet and Piano"

the
Richmond Symphony)will be performing the Mendelssohn with Cara and me, and
Elizabeth Bowles will be his duet partner for the Lewin.
Also, this will be the first public performance of Gustav Katschka's
