BLACKSBURG COMMUNITY BAND SPRING CONCERT


The Blacksburg Community Band will presenting its 19th Annual Spring 
Concert on Sunday, April 6, 2008, at 4:00 pm in the Blacksburg High 
School Auditorium on Patrick Henry Drive in Blacksburg, Virginia. 
Under the direction of Ed Schwartz, the band will play a variety of 
music that will provide a great afternoon of entertainment for the 
entire family.

Associate Director, Steve Brown, will take the podium to direct 
several numbers, including his original composition, "Fallon's 
Daughter". Three solo works will be featured including "Napoli" by 
Herman Bellstedt with Mary Lazarus Woodbury performing the cornet 
solo, Henry Mancini's "Pennywhistle Jig" featuring Mary Walters on 
the piccolo, and "The Typewriter" featuring Leslie Palacios 
performing on the (near extinct) manual typewriter. The band will 
also perform music by Cole Porter including the title song from his 
musical "Anything Goes" to promote the Summer Musical Enterprise's 
production of the popular Broadway Musical later this year.

Admission is free and a reception will follow the concert.
